What is
Ballet
?
Ballet is an art form that has been around for centuries and has remained popular all over the world. As one of the most widely practiced dance forms in history, classical ballet is considered to be the foundation of all dance forms. The beauty of classical ballet lies in its simplicity and how it teaches dancers about gracefulness, precision and technique with every step taken. And while the classical form of ballet has evolved over time with new movement and innovations coming from many different countries, it still maintains a strong focus on technique.
The practice of ballet is based on the placement and execution of feet, arms, legs and head. There are various positions and movements that can be accomplished while executing a full ballet vocabulary. The combinations of these movements create the unique beauty that sets classical ballet apart from other forms of dance.
Ballet is great for building coordination, strength, and endurance! It also enhances flexibility – not only in the muscles and joints but in attitudes too. Dancers who learn technique have to focus on following directions that are set by the choreographer as well as paying attention to what they are doing physically. All this modelling of good habits will help you be more focused when learning new skills or trying something new out of their comfort zone.
It's never too early to start learning ballet. Our classes start from age 2, slowly introducing age-appropriate material that they'll enjoy! Not only will you learn about body anatomy, musicality and choreography; but also express yourself through movement which leads to good self-esteem as well as important skills like teamwork or cooperation.
