The perfect place to learn dance

Wessex School of Dancing is a well-established dance school that provides high quality classes for all ages in the Bournemouth, Southbourne, and Christchurch areas.

We offer a wide variety of classes including ballet, tap, modern, jazz and acrobatics and we make all of our classes exciting and engaging for all students, regardless of their ability.

Our professional teachers are fully DBS checked, and uphold a high quality of teaching standards.

How we teach

Our classes are taught using both the I.S.T.D. and R.A.D. syllabi, so if students wish to take optional exams for their dance style then we'll organise everything for you and ensure the best chance of success.

At Spring-time each year, we put on our annual show to showcase all of the hard work every student has done over the year.

We're also proud to be part of the WABS (Western Association of Ballet Schools), which provides two more opportunities each year for students to perform on stage.

Qualified and experienced

Wessex School of Dancing has now been going strong for over 100 years. Its current principal, Heather Lees, started as a student over 20 years ago and aims to continue providing the same enjoyment she had over the years at the school.

Heather took over Wessex in 2021, but previously ran Zapp Dance in Milford on Sea for over 15 years. This saw her teach hundreds of students over this time and choreograph countless performances.
